Sandy
Springs Toastmasters met on Zoom at 7 am with twelve members and one guest
present. Sergeant at Arms, Bud Otto called the meeting to order and led us in
the pledge of allegiance, and then turned the meeting over to our president, Una
Richards.
Una welcomed members and guests and reminded us that this year is our club’s the 40th anniversary. Our planned celebration is delayed this year, and she is hopeful we can celebrate it at a future date. She then introduced our guest, John Ross, and turned the meeting over to the Toastmaster of the day, Andy Kallenberg. Andy confirmed the roles for the meeting:
Errington Watkins: His word of the day was Doyen. It means the oldest, most respected, or most knowledgeable person in a field.
·
Una Richards was
timer/TV.
·
Andy then introduced our
Table Topics Master, Anastasia Pass.
·
Anastasia led us in a
round of table topics with theme of holiday-related questions that focused on
lessons learned or those that put a positive light on dark topic.
·
Errington won best Table
Topic answer.
Our first speaker was
Morgan Henderson. Morgan gave his ice breaker speech on how his family
influenced his life which led him to his work in media production.
Our
second speaker was long time member Jim Owen. Jim’s speech focused on
being safe in different situations such as avoid being in one of the higher
floors in hotels, and, did you know that the exit row in an airplane is not
necessarily the safest?
Both
speeches were excellent and entertaining, and they tied for best speech.
·
Crystal Reeves gave the
evaluation for Morgan’s speech.
·
Apoorva Salimath gave
the evaluation for Jim’s speech.
·
Apoorva wone the award
for best evaluator.
·
Sam Gadebusch gave the
ah/counter report.
