Sandy Springs 4-19 Toastmasters Mtg Recap & Upcoming Roles

Hello all: So excited that our Sergeant-At-Arms, Bud Otto, returned this week following his hip replacement just 4 weeks ago!  It was great to have him back and he's doing awesome.  Bud opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and mentioned that on this date in 1993 the Waco incident happened and in 1961 the Bay of Pigs - neither of which worked out well.  Then President, Anastasia Pass, reminded everyone about the Pathways Program and recommended all review materials previously sent as well as go to Toastmasters International website and find "The Navigator" and other documents that will give further instructions on how the program will work.

Toastmaster, Jim Owen, shared interesting details about his recent "Elvis" theme milestone birthday celebration and how much fun it was.  He invited Una Richards to give the Word of the Day which was "candor" and used by numerous members throughout the meeting!  Chris Ashkouti offered a quick joke about attorneys, and then Andrea Miranda began Table Topics.  Since Andrea has been looking for new job opportunities and gone thru many interviews, she decided to use a series of very intriguing actual and derived interview questions for Table Topics.  (Congratulations to Andrea for finding a new job with Kabbage to begin on Monday, 4/26!  Good going and best wishes!!!) Ralston Medouze won Best Table Topics for his response to the "interview" question, "what one word would you want on your tombstone and why?"  Ralston said that he would definitely want the word "Dreamer" because he strongly believes it's important to have dreams and take steps to make them come true as well as help others do the same.  Bravo!

After a quick social break, David Kulze introduced speaker, Chris Ashkouti.  This was Chris' 2nd speech and was a very entertaining story about the journey he and his 2 brothers have been on with their business of "flipping houses" and all that they have gained and learned.  David gave him a glowing and detailed review and enjoyed it so much that he encouraged him to give his next speech sooner than later.  Paige Kerr introduced the second speaker, Anastasia Pass, who gave her 5th speech from the Advanced Communicator Storytelling Series about bringing history to life.  Her speech was about Barbara Bush's lessons on how to live life with no regrets, as she outlined in her 1990 speech to Wellesley graduates.  Paige provided very substantive feedback and was impressed that how good it was given the short amount of time Anastasia had to prepare.  Best Evaluator went to David and Best Speaker to Anastasia.

It was a pleasure to have 2 guests - returning guest Duyen Tran and newcomer, Gundeep Singh.  Please let us know if you have any questions and we look forward to seeing you again!  Many thanks to all the members for their contributions and for always making our meetings so much fun!

Please review the roles and confirm your availability asap but no later than Sunday, April 22!  Have a great week and we'll see you April 26!
