Sandy Springs Toastmasters August 25, 2022, Meeting Recap and Roles for September 8, 2022

Sandy Springs Toastmasters met at 7 a.m. on Zoom with six members and one guest, Kayla Weiner.

Sargent at Arms, Bud Otto opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance, and then turned the meeting over to our president, Anastasia Pass. 

Anastasia gave a brief update on her visit to Campbell Stone to pick up our supplies.  She confirmed that with changes in the dining room breakfast schedule, it would not be possible to return there for our meetings.  Anastasia also reminded members that Toastmaster Club Contests will be held January through February 2023. 

There will be a Table Topics contest, an International Speech contest, and a Humorous Speech contest. More information will be coming, and it’s not too early to be thinking about entering. 

·        Anastasia then turned the meeting over to Toastmaster of the day, Una Richards who went over the roles for the meeting. 

·        John Ross gave the word of the day:   Ameliorate, a verb that means to make better or improve.  He also filled the role of grammarian.

·        Una then introduced Anastasia to lead Table Topics.  Her theme for Table Topics was “Transitions”. 

·        Kayla Weiner, our guest won best Table Topics.

Bud Otto gave a 5-to-7-minute speech on “Where are the Warriors?” His speech presented reasons why our military is struggling.

Jim Own gave an evaluation of Bud’s speech.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15am
