Sandy Springs Toastmasters 11/15/18 Meeting Recap

The meeting started promptly at 7 am. Jim Owen, filling in for our Sergeant of Arms Bud Otto, called the meeting to order. We had 12 members in attendance. Surprisingly no guests.

The club president, Paige Kerr, gave opening remarks and went over the roles for the meeting of November 29th. Paige then turned the meeting over to the Toastmaster of the day Anastasia Pass.

Anastasia’s theme for the day was inspired by Thanksgiving. The theme she chose was “The spirit of giving.”

Crystal Reeves gave the word of the day. Ambiguous- Unclear or having a double meaning. “The parents became frustrated with the ambiguous instructions of putting the toy together.”

Anastasia called on the Table Topics Master of the day, Carlos Fuentez. Carlos had a fun set of questions prepared. He had a real treat for us. Initially, Carlos’s questions revolved around diabetes since November is National Diabetes Awareness month but his last few sets of questions veered off to NRA, gun regulation, El Chapo, Amazon’s Jeff Besos and many more questions on current events. It was one of the most entertaining table topics questions we’ve had in a while. Great job, Carlos! Anastasia and Wright Temp won Best Table Topics answer.

The group took a ten-minute coffee break then reconvened. We had one speaker scheduled for the day, Etsehiwot Ezra. She gave a speech from project 7, Research Your Topic, of the Competent Communicator manual. Her speech was titled “Got Frizz?”. Etsehiwot informed us on the main reason our hair frizzes, how it affects our hair, and what we can do about it. Paige gave an insightful evaluation of Etsehiwot’s speech.

Etsehiwot won Best Speaker and Paige won Best Evaluator.

Anastasia evaluated the meeting and the meeting was adjourned.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Have a great week and see you on the 29th
