Sandy Springs 7-20-17 Toastmasters Meeting Recap

Hello Fellow Sandy Springs Toastmasters and guests!    Another great day at Sandy Springs TM! Many thanks to all of our members for pitching in for roles that needed to be filled and welcome to our newest members, Velma Trayham and Marianne Gudina!  So nice to have you with us and we look forward to getting to know you better.  We had a reverse meeting with speeches first followed by Table Topics.

Phillip Knight, long-time SS TM member, treated us to a speech entitled "Laboratory" which was a well-structured presentation about the long lasting impact of the 7-18-80 eruption of Mt St Helens. He cleverly wove into his story the laboratory of friendship that he and his friends shared when visiting together what has become the laboratory of Mt. St. Helens last week, 37 years later.  Steve Bragg provided a very insightful and detailed evaluation.

Reza Shah, who will soon be leaving us to move to Saudi Arabia, gave his 7th speech about "Discoveries" he's made about is life since the age of 4, articulately incorporating learnings from each of his senses.  Some of the learnings included his first concert at age 4 (Madonna), visits to museums and fish and chips.  David Kulze pinch-hitted as Evaluator and gave Reza some specific pointers on the strengths of his speech and valuable constructive comments on how he could strengthen his presentations.

Phillip Knight won Best Speaker and David Kulze Best Evaluator.

Table Topics Master, Ralston Medouze, challenged all members to questions about "favorites", e.g. favorite cheese, villian, sound, childhood memory, and time of day.  New member, Velma Trayham won Best Table Topics response.

Again, many thanks to all members for their dedication and valuable contributions.  Toastmasters is where Leaders are Made and we are all becoming better leaders.
